Man killed under service lift in Lija, woman dies in road accident in Zurrieq

The first incident happened early this morning when the man, a 53 year-old from Marsascala, got trapped inside a services lift at a company store in Mosta Road, Lija.

According to the Police, the man was then caught between the wall and the services lift as it became operational and was crushed, killing him on the spot.

Civil Protection personnel were called on the scene, together with paramedics from Mater Dei Hospital who certified the man dead.

A Magisterial inquiry is underway.

In a second incident, a 69 year-old woman from Zurrieq died shortly after being admitted to hospital following an unfortunate accident in Zurrieq.

The woman was reportedly walking in Mattia Preti Square in Zurrieq, when she accidentally fell behind a reversing mini-van.

The woman sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital where she died shortly after.

An inquiry is underway.
