Father and son remanded in custody after attacking man with sickle
Two men were remanded in custody after being charged with attempted murder.
Two men from Dingli – John Vassallo, 61 and his son 22 year-old Johann were remanded in custody after being charged with the attempted murder of a man, they claimed to have had an ‘unauthorised’ relationship with a young girl who happens to be the grand-daughter and niece of the accused.
According to the police, the girl’s grand-father and her uncle stalked the victim, caught up with him, tied him and attacked him with a sickle, causing him grievious injuries.
Both pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna ordered that the two men be held at Corradino Prisons, pending evidence to be heard by a number of witnesses.
Lawyers Franco Debono and Maria Azzopardi appeared for the accused.
