USAF F-16 fighter jets land in Malta
Two US Air Force F-16 fighter jets have made an emergency refuelling stop at Malta International Airport.
The fighter jets from the 20th Operations Group 77 th Fighter Squadron - known as “Gamblers” - made the emergency stop at Malta International Airport after requesting an emergency fuel stop.
The planes, which are operational over Libya as part of a NATO led no-fly zone landed fully armed.
Previously four sets of French Dassault-Mirage fighter jets had landed for fuel or technical faults during similar operations.
