Two arrested after ecstasy raid in Qormi confectionery

Two men have been arrested in connection with a substantial find of ecstasy pills in Qormi.

Police have detained two men aged 19 and 25 after more than 1,000 ecstasy pills were seized in a Drug Squad raid on a confectionery shop in Qormi yesterday evening.

A police statement explained that the large find was prompted after the arrest of a 19 year old who was found in possession of 150 ecstasy pills.

Further investigations into this find led the police to a confectionery shop in Qormi, where a 25 year old was arrested as 850 pills were discovered.

Both men were taken into custody and were interrogated this morning by senior investigators, and are expected to be arraigned on Saturday, and face drug trafficking charges.

Duty magistrate Tonio Micallef Trigona is leading an inquiry.

IF the name of this outlet was withheld for legal reasons this law should be changed. It's in the interest of the public in general in order to protect vulnerable persons and recovering drug-addicts in our society. (And by the way, it's 'ecstasy' not 'ecstacy')
