National Volunteer Award launched

The Malta Council for the Volunteer Sector (MCVS) has launched the National Volunteer Award to recognise the important work carried out by those who volunteer with voluntary organisations which arenon profit, charities and NGOs. 

The award is intended to contribute towards the rewarding and recognising achievements gained in volunteering activities and the raising of awareness of the value and importance of volunteering.

The launch was chaired by Mr Robert Farrugia, Chairperson MCVS who in his speech talked about the valuable contribution that volunteers give towards society, a contribution that is not only that of solidarity and support but also a tangible contribution which can be financially quantified.

Members of the general public and organisations are being asked to nominate individuals they believe to be deserving of the award.  MCVS will receive nominations on e-mail [email protected] Nomination forms can be found on the MCVS web site www.maltacvs.com or requested via e-mail. The closing date for nominations is the 5th of October 2011.  The recipient of the award will be selected by an independent board appointed by MCVS and the presentation of the award will take place on the 5th of December 2011.
