Portuguese caught with cocaine concealed in stomach, admits charges

A Portuguese man has been arrested and charged after being caught with 800 grammes of cocaine in his stomach as he flew in from Brazil.

24 year-old Iancube Balde was arrested at Malta International Airport after he was stopped by customs officers as he walked through the blue channel on his arrival at MIA from Rome last Monday.

He was arraigned under arrest this morning and admitted the charges to importing drugs and conspiracy to to traffic drugs.

A statement issued by Customs explained that a search on the Portuguese national originally yielded 13 capsules with cocaine in his underwear, while another 67 capsules were discovered in his stomach following an x-ray at Mater Dei Hospital.

Iancube Balde was immediately handed over to the police for further investigations.
