Vandals target Bisazza Street monument

Vandals have smashed part of the monument dedicated to Maltese artists, defacing the figure of the late actor Charles Clews.

Police noted the act during a routine patrol in the area and immediately initiated investigations, and are currently going through CCTV camera footage to identify the culprits.

A statement issued by the Ministry for Resources that was responsible for the embellishment and regeneration of Bisazza Street condemned the act.

The ministry called on the general public to assist the police in its investigations to bring the culprits to justice.

In another statement, the Nationalist Party condemned the vandal act in Sliema, and also on a newly-installed automated ticketing machine by transport  provider Arriva.

The PN also condemned the recent cases of animal cruelty and urged the Police to apprehend the culprits of such acts and bring them to justice.

Sure it is vandalism and not hit by a bus after giving the zone a new PEDESTRIAN/ BUS Status????

@matteoti That was my question, Charles was neither from Sliema and surely not a right winger. . I don't put the blame on the PN or anything but the bloke who did it must surely be mentally sick. . I bet nobody will be caught,I hope I am proved wrong.

"...urged the Police to apprehend the culprits of such acts and bring them to justice." . And for the courts to actually do justice when and if they are brought to trial, not just another suspended sentence. IMO, community service within Bisazza Street would be very appropriate. . Having said that, the monument appears to be some kind of earthenware. Shouldn't street furniture be made of more resilient material?

Why pick on Charles Clews after all?
