Elderly man attacked with pepper spray

Police are investigating an attack on an elderly man in Qormi, allegedly committed by two hooded men as he walked in the area close to Wied is-Sewda.

The assailants sprayed pepper spray as the elderly man resisted the attack.

According to the police, the two assailants made off with a gold choker which they managed to snatch from the man's neck.

An ambulance was called to the scene and a team of paramedics attended to the elderly man who has been kept under observation at Mater Dei hospital.

A magisterial inquiry is underway.
