Gonzi voting ‘No’ on divorce law, Arrigo reportedly dissatisfied with lack of party unity
Sister newspaper Illum is informed that the Prime Minister will be voting against the divorce law in Parliament, as friends of Robert Arrigo claim the MP is worried that whilst he [Arrigo] will vote in favour of the bill, other MPs would have the possibility to vote against.
Illum reports that Nationalist MP Robert Arrigo has asked the Prime Minister on directions how to vote in Parliament. According to sources, Arrigo knows that should he vote in favour - being alphabetically first to cast his vote - his fellow MPs would start voting against, once acknowledging there is enough majority for the law to pass.
The same sources claim this is worrying Arrigo as MPs on his district would vote against to please the electorates who had voted ‘No’ during the divorce referendum. Since his surname places him on top of the voting list he will not have the possibility to analyse the result before voting.
