Hundreds of people united around the family of former President and Prime Minister Eddie Fenech Adami as lasts respects were paid to former First Lady Mary Fenech Adami who died last Friday, aged 77.

A visibly distraught Eddie Fenech Adami led his mourning family as the nation’s highest authorities, the Nationalist Party and hundreds of people attended the funeral in a packed St. Helen’s Basilica in Birkirkara.

Numerous hands reached out to touch the coffin, amid calls of ‘Mary, Mary!’ and numerous others reached out to comfort Eddie Fenech Adami.

More applause accompanied the coffin as it entered St. Helen’s Basilica carried shoulder high by Mary Fenech Adami’s four sons, John, Beppe, Michael and Luigi.

Totally agree with Mr North...apart from the fact that EFA was actually very composed during the reading and was not crying or struggling...composed as always though obviously visibly shaken as is to be expected. RIP MFA

the reference (twice) to EFA's emotions in the sub heading and during the text is in a bit of a bad taste. Do you have to point it out so explicitly? and twice? I mean what do you expect EFA to do in his wife's funeral? Dance to a Zumba tune? very bad taste considering the situation. let the poor man mourn his wife's death in peace!!!!

A rather presumptuous statement to say that the NATION unites around this FAMILY. The fact is. it doesn't. I bet this will bring on the flak.
