Muscat gets Claudette Abela Baldacchino as new assistant
Claudette Abela Baldacchino has been chosen to serve as Labour leader Joseph Muscat’s new assistant.
Labour sources report that Claudette Abela Baldacchino was approached for the role in a bid to replace outgoing assistant Mark Farrugia.
The assistant's vacancy was created when Farrugia was chosen to replace MP Evarist Bartolo as ONE TV’s head of news as from August.
A former journalist, Abela Baldacchino has been involved in various sections of the Labour party since the tender age of 13, and has worked in various sectors, such as journalism, the Labour Women’s Association, and within the party’s executive
Baldacchino is also a member of the Committee of the Regions in the EU, as deputy chairperson of the Local Councils Association.
