Enemalta expert joins assessment team following Cyprus explosion

Enemalta engineer to offer expert advice in Cyprus.

Engineer Michael Falzon, who heads Enemalta’s fire section, has been recommended to form part of a delegation of six experts from European countries to assist the Cypriot authorities in assessing and evaluating the damage caused by an explosion at a naval base and a power station at Vasilikos.

The recommendation came from the Monitoring and Information Centre (MIC) of the European Civil Protection Mechanism.

“This is a great achievement not only for Ing. Falzon on a personal level but also for Enemalta because it confirms that the high standards that we are delivering through our operations are being recognized within the international sphere and where it matters,” commented Raymond Cremona, Chief Officer Corporate Services at Enemalta Corporation.

“Although Enemalta is duty bound to offer the best expert service available and in all circumstances, we are still very proud in the knowledge that our experts in civil protection and fire containment are regarded as European class. Indeed, Ing. Falzon’s experience in Cyprus will not only be an opportunity to promote Malta’s image and the abilities of our human resources  but we also view this experience as an important prospect for Malta to cultivate closer contacts, expertise and better relations with other European states and professionals in this very sensitive area of damage control and procedures,” added Mr Cremona.

Throughout this EU funded mission in Cyprus, Ing. Michael Falzon will be wearing the Enemalta fire section uniform and fire protection gear. The Maltese flag has been purposely embroidered on the sleeve of his right arm.
