Nurses ‘fed up’ of unkept promises as bed shortage persists at Mater Dei

The Emergency Nurses Union says nurses cannot keep on working in a situation in which they constantly face shortage of beds, which is not ideal for both the nurses and patients.

The Emergency Nurses Union (ENU) has called on the Health Department to find solutions regarding the lack of beds at Mater Dei Hospital.

“The patients who are given immediate care and who are ready to be moved in other halls have to wait for long hours in a corridor before they are given a bed,” the nurses’ union said.

ENU said that even though several discussions and promises have taken place between the union and the authorities, “the situation has continued to deteriorate and no solution has been given.”

It added that the nurses are “fed up” with having to face such problems everyday: “It certainly is not an ideal environment for both the nurses and the patients.”

The union added the people should be given a clear explanation of the current situation at the hospital and called for more talks to effectively solve the problem.

Frederick Attard, We deserve no better ! As long as every five years we rush to vote SMS when the party leaders clap their hands, matters will not change.

Why should they worry about this situation? When they need something from Mater Dei they flag themselves as MP's and the red carpet rolls at their feet unlike us tax payers.

Is it possible that no one of those thirteen conscience stricken MP's is feeling his conscience prick him at this lack of valuri ? Or are valuri strictly restricted to sex ? Does this enhance the idea that, for some, their conscience runs in an a la carte mode ?
