New parliament to be built on ‘shaky foundations’

The stone which is being used for the building of the new parliament’s facade is taken from a quarry which has an active enforcement notification.

Sister newspaper Illum reveals how the quarry which is supplying the stone for the facade of the parliament has a pending environmental permit due to an active enforcement notice and pending applications for development.

The information was confirmed by the Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MEPA).

Meanwhile, Infrastructure Minister Austin Gatt had assured in parliament that the quarry “had all the necessary MEPA permits.”
