Student admits to Lourdes bomb threat
A university student from Naxxar was arrested and charged in court today for having sent a bomb threat to Lourdes shrine in France.
Francis Cassar, 26 was arrested after the police were alerted by the French anti-terror squad about the email that was sent from Malta using a fake hotmail account. The IP address was discovered through investigations with Microsoft.
Investigations revealed how Cassar sent an email to the administrators of the Lourdes Shrine in France on August 1, threatening to attack the place using bombs.
Cassar – who admitted the charge – was sentenced to one year imprisonment, suspended for two years and was also fined €200.
