Sedqa to hold parenting skills courses

Aġenzija Sedqa’s Prevention Services will beorganising Parenting Skills courses in the coming weeks.

‘Inrabbu ’l Uliedna Aħjar’ is targeted for parents of children up to 11 years. This six-lecture course will deal with topics such as parenting leadership styles, phases of child psychology, effective communication within the family, responsible involvement of children in the family, sexuality and substance abuse.

Those who wish to attend for this course may choose between the morning sessions which start on Tuesday 18th October, between 9.30am and 11.30am or the evening sessions which start on Wednesday 19th October between 6.00pm and 8.00pm.

Another planned course is aimed for parents of young peopleaged between 11 and 18 years.This course will be spread over six sessions and will discuss issues such as the phases of teenage psychology; effective communication with teenagers; dealing with peer-pressure, media and leisure-time, sexuality issues during teenage years, substance abuse, cyber bullying and computer misuse. This course will start on Monday 17th October and will be held evenings only between 6.00pm and 8.00pm.

Both courses will be delivered in Maltese by professional staff trained in the respective fields. A €12fee per person per course applies. During these lectures, related educational material will be also distributed. The venue for both courses will be St. Joseph’s Home, St. Joseph’s High Road, Santa Venera. Child care facilities will be available upon request.
