Libyan patient in Malta succumbs to injuries

One of the 10 patients who were receiving medical treatment at Mater Dei Hosptial died earlier this afternoon.

In a statement, the Health Ministry said one of the Libyan patients who was receiving treatment succumbed to his injuries earlier this afternoon. The patient had been critically injured and brought to Malta last Tuesday.

Two others have been reported as doing well and will be transferred to St James Hospital (Capua).

The rest of the patients are still in critical condition.

Three patients who were receiving treatment at St James Hospital have been discharged, while two others were discharged last week. The five patients had all been suffering from serious wounds.

Currently at St James, there is only one Libyan patient left receiving treatment.

Meanwhile, earlier today the Health Ministry announced the arrival of more patients from Libya to be transferred to St James (Caputa). However, the trip was later on cancelled.
