Court rules Caruana Galizia 'slandered' former PL President
In a judgement delivered by the Civil Court, blogger Daphne Caruana Galizia was ordered to compensate former PL President Manwel Cuschieri for slander.
The case goes back some 12 years when Cuschieri hosted a radio show, ‘Tajjeb li Tkun Taf’ on One radio.
Cuschieri had filed a libel case against Caruana Galizia after he felt aggrieved by comments levelled against him in an article she had written in The Malta Independent on 21 October 1999. The article was titled ‘Vote, or be fined’.
In its judgement, the Court presided by Justice JR Micallef dismissed Caruana Galizia's defence was not 'correct in fact and law' and therefore ruled that she had damaged Cuschieri's reputation. She was ordered to pay €950 in damages to Cuschieri. Caruana Galizia has to also pay legal expenses.
In her article, the blogger had described Cuschieri as “Mr Evil”, “hate creed”, “sowed anti-Semitism” and “seditious agenda”. Cuschieri had described this as "character assassination."
Earlier this year Caruana Galizia was also found of criminal libel against Labour deputy leader Anglu Farrugia.

In praise of Daphne Caruana Galizia and to set the record straight.
(1) She was fired from the TOM.
(2) These libel fines are paid from a fund that EFA awarded as a contract in the amount of 30000 pounds.
(3) Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder but if you can describe Daphne's neck as sexy, you need help to rediscover your sexuality. More so if you can get close enough to be sexually aroused, you might need a witch's love potion to finish your conquest.
(4) One of her best sports discipline is throwing china plates made in china, hopefully she will represent Malta in next year's olympics.
The best compliment anyone can give Daphne is this.

Why so long? 12 years for a judgment ?
Why was this case dragged over a 12 year span.. and the Blogger was left uncontrolled with her vile comments, "Blessed" by Gonzipn , in her cess-pit which she calls a BLOG?

Where the ay €950 in damages due to Mr. Cuschieri paid in cash cheque o Payment program or from the OPM Budget?

What's wrong with the picture? I think it brings her out very well. Lovely smooth skin and classic Greek features. No wonder she's called Daphne. Though i notice a tinge of colour on the upper part of the hair which I don't care for because her natural hair has such a nice colour.

For many years Dauphne's comments were an asset on the Sunday Times then she went over to the Sunday independent.
But for many years now, from an asset she has become a liability with her extreme views and doing more harm than good to the Sunday Independent.
I am an avid reader and follow most comments from every side of the spectrum but unfortunately she has ended looking like Manwel Cuschiere himself in his most controversial days.
Time to go.

Ouch ... This is what I call a bad weekend for Mrs Caruana Galizia. In a nutshell, she was not only found guilty (in another lawsuit which she lost), but she has been ordered to fork money out of her own pockets.
That must be painful pupa, considering that only a few months ago you already lost another libel. And if I am not mistaken the woman has atleast 4 other pending libels cases.
This must be really a tough moment for her.
I am wondering will she be trotting up to her Independent bosses to help her out financially?
Through the grapevine I heard that only a few years ago .... oh this is is the bliss of living in a small little, but so little world.

In a sense I pity DCG. At this rate she will be working hard to maintain her slander enabled pen and pay a string of libel damages payments.
Perhaps Il-kbir ghadu gej .In her recent slander case involving a magistrate she stands a good chance of serving time in the pokey pokey if found guilty.
Rather than concentrate on her obvious talents in editing cookery, fashion and social magazines she delights in spinning out of control and hurling amongst other things insults at all those within the political and institutional sphere whose behaviour or opinion do not coincide with her biased provincial and local view of what is proper and correct.

@ bonz I agree 100% with your comment but I must add that I even stopped buying The Times and limiting myself just to read its news online and not reading the comments left by its readers. I cannot stand the same names writing cheap propaganda and showing their hatred to who does not agree with them.By the way I also cannot stand the bloggers always mentioning 1987 ,violence etc etc. I really cannot figure out who are and were the real "violent" people !!

I am not a fan of the lady ,and I never read what she writes. Honestly I pity her.
It is because of her I stopped buying The Malta independent on Sunday, you cannot have a writer who slunders people left right and centre and found guilty many times for insulting people. Buying the newspaper is waste of money.
