Maltese suspect extradited from the Netherlands

A Sliema man who absconded while facing charges of drug trafficking has been apprehended by Dutch police in the Netherlands.

The man, 34, was caught somewhere in the Netherlands after Maltese police coordinated the arrest with Eurojust through a European Arrest Warrant.

The suspect managed to travel abroad using a false identification document.

The man was charged with criminal association, drug trafficking and possession of 6 kilogrammes of cannabis resin on 12 October, 2008.

He is now back in Malta and remanded in custody at Corradino prision.
