MTA awarded at World Routes Conference 2011

The Malta Tourism Authority achieves international recognition by the 2011 World Routes Conference week in Berlin by winning the World Routes – Best Destination Marketing Campaign Award.

The Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) achieved international recognition for their destination marketing by the 2011 World Routes Conference held this week in Berlin.

The MTA was recognised as the best national tourism organisation winning the World Routes - Best Destination Marketing Campaign Award.

The MTA had been short listed together with the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority, the Jordanian Tourism Board and the Greek National Tourism Organisation.

The award ceremony was held in the grounds of the new Brandenburg Airport due to open next year. The World Routes Conference, an annual event, is recognised as the leading gathering of the world aviation industry players together with other stakeholders such as national, regional and city tourist authorities and boards.

The award was said to be in recognition of the way the MTA worked closely with the airport, airlines and other operators. “This award recognised the continuous efforts of MTA to ensure adequate accessibility to our islands,” said Josef Formosa Gauci, CEO of the MTA when collecting the award.

Formosa Gauci thanked all the staff at MTA for their continuous efforts and also recognised the excellent co-operation with Malta International Airport with whom MTA attends the Routes events.

Additionally, on the occasion of this year’s ‘Globus Awards’ in Frankfurt, the MTA’s German Office was awarded the ‘Second Best Destination E-Learning Programme for Travel Agents’ and MTA Germany’s ‘Malta Academy’ scored second from among a total of 40 destination online training.

Well done MTA. Seems clear that when government intervention is kept to a minimum, significant achievements are obtained by capable hard working individuals. Keep it up.

This an ADVERTISMENT award and not an ACHIEVEMENT award. One can have the best advert in the world yet his product doesn't sell. . When the MTA gives an account of what their advertisment drive achieved then one can comment positively or critically.

it's such a typical phenomenon in Malta... when it's good news and an award like this cannot be disputed for credibility, no one has anything to comment... why is it so difficult to comment in praise in Malta?? On the other hand if the article heading read 'MTA bottom in WRC 2011' than be rest assured that the comments would have topped over a 100 with everyone giving his critical opinion left right and centre... the wheel will go round and round as it is and nothing will change in this country.
