Chronic fatigue syndrome not recognized as a disability in Malta
While the World Health Organisation classifies Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) as a physical illness, Malta does not recognize the condition as a disability.
Persons who suffer from ME – a chronic fatigue syndrome that does have a definitive cure – cannot work because of their condition.
But at the same time, government does not recognize it as a disability, MaltaToday's Sunday edition reports.
The study was conducted by sociology student Dorothy Cuschieri, whose study revealed the frustration felt by the ME sufferers.

I may be wrong but... "physical illness" is not the same as "disability". Recognition of something as a physical illness does not automatically categorise that illness as a disability.
