[Watch] Church must edge closer to the people – Fr Rene Camilleri

Words speak louder than deeds, Fr Rene. Until the Universal church, not least in Malta, really understand that the church has to give Caesar what is Caesar's due and to God what is God's, little will it's publicity stunts help her to gain lost grounds. The media is there, Fr Rene, to give a true and clear picture of what happens in the real world. Otherwise it would be participating to maintain the status quo, that is, a state of disillusion and deceit.

The Church showed that it wanted to engage with the victims "bil-qalb" and "ta' nies" by hiring top notch lawyers to defend the victims. And pigs fly.

Fr Rene as usual just paroli, paroli and paroli. “we can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” Albert Einstein once said.

About time to . On the spiritual level I trust not on the civic level.

Our Archbishop should stop smiling, roll up his sleeves and pilot the Local Church out of the doldrums of conservatism. . The first priority on his actions should be the sacking of Mgr. Anton Gouder! . Who is the real Archbishop, anyway?!!

Who is really in charge of the church in Malta? If the archbishop is the Shepherd then its time that he calls back some of those priests blatantly and without any shame are in bed with the p.n.Until the archbishop rein in those priests, it will always be them and us. The wounds of the past might have healed a little but the scars remain.

"Today's reality" is that it is not the Church which is disillusioned but the people! What good does it do to say the Church should "take some steps" without making any specific suggestions? I have a few. Using 1500 year-old teachings for today's problems is absurd. Example: no sex before marriage. In the past, most people were "married" by the time they were 17, and dead by the time they were 35. In such a world, waiting til you're married to have sex was a question of a couple years at most. Today? Who is going to take such edicts seriously when people are marrying later and later? More to the point, promising to love someone "til death do us part" meant maybe living 15 years together; today, it means 50 years together; the chances that two people who are continually changing (like all living things) will still be compatible 30 years after they met is also absurd. So, WHICH teachings are you going to "update"? I could go on but why bother? People today are EDUCATED. Their disillusionment isn't going to disappear because the Church applies band-aids!

Cannot really edge closer with members of the Church in alliance with Gonzipn! We have seen this in the divorce referendum issues, we continue to see prominent members of the Church giving Consultancies andare stalwarts of Gonzipn like Fr. Joe Beirut Borg and heads of the RTK and Media from Media Link not to mention the slant certain programmes are given on RTK.... and no one from the Church Hierarchy seems to bother or worry, not even on the local situation which is truly degenerating! No Big Wonder members of the Labour Party feel they are Children of a lesser God within the Maltese Church ion Malta and the gap is getting wider , wider than any bridge can connect!

Usual useless empty words. Can i suggest that the Maltese church brings itself closer to reality and starts its own SETI program? Who knows, maybe some mighty being with a GOD complex answers back from deep space!!

We all know what happened to those who got close to certain members(some convicted, some not) of mthe church. Jesus, protect me from your fans and followers.
