The Health Ministry confirmed that Mater Dei patients were being asked to pay a €15 charge for a copy of digital x-rays required for private consults and operations in private hospitals.
Newspaper Illum investigated complaints received from patients who were tired of waiting lists and others wanting a second opinion from private healthcare doctors.
When compared with the cost of x-ray film copies requested by St Luke Hospital, the copying of digital x-rays at Mater Dei represents a hike of 547%.
