Paceville: Labour says police reactive only to media reports
Opposition spokesman for home affairs and security Michael Falzon said that violent incidents are becoming a “regular fact” in Paceville.
Labour MP Michael Falzon has criticised the police for taking action only after the publication of a report in Sunday newspaper Torċa on the beating of a 17-year-old by a Paceville bouncer.
“It is shameful that Police only took action after the alleged incident was reported in local media. It is as if police only take action if you report your case to the media,” Falzon said, adding that is unacceptable that police did nothing when a police report was filed.
Torċa reported that the teenager was in an establishment with his girlfriend and some friends when a bouncer attacked him. According to a medical report seen by The Times, the victim suffered multiple bruises and hematoma.
“The media reports show how Paceville has degenerated in a locality without control and increased chaos. Violent incidents have now become regular fact of the place,” Falzon said.
Falzon accused the Police of being reactive rather than proactive: “The lack of management and decadence facing the Police Corp is a reflection of what is going on in the whole country.”
