MEPA's corporate services director resigns
MEPA director Ray Piscopo was caught making use of one of MEPA’s company cars while receiving a car allowance for his own personal car.
The Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MEPA) today accepted the resignation of one of its directors after he was caught making use of one of MEPA's company cars, while at the same time receiving an allowance for using his personal car.
"Last week MEPA started investigating allegations it received over one of its employees, who occupies the role of Director," MEPA said in a statement.
A MEPA spokesperson confirmed with MaltaToday that the director in question is Ray Piscopo.
"The Director was asked to resign since the allegation was found to be true. He submitted his resignation and this was accepted," the authority said.
There was no mention of whether Piscopo was also investigated over reports last week that an unidentified MEPA official had allegedly threatened doctors at a health centre, for issuing medical certificates to MEPA employees affected by foul smells at Hexagon House last week. There is no suggestion that Piscopo is the official in question. MEPA has already denied these allegations.
