GRTU welcomes government's decision to carry out works in Triq Dicembru 13, Marsa after festive season.

The General Retailers and Trade Union (GRTU) has welcomed government's decision to carry out works under the EU funded Ten-T Project in Triq Dicembru 13 to the Menqa Roundabout in Marsa.
The GRTU had discussed with Transport Malta the phasing and traffic management and had made a number of requests for improvement such as the initiation of works after the festive season.
The Malta Chamber for Small and Medium Enterprises said it was pleased that Transport Malta revised the programme of works taking into consideration GRTU's proposals.
The GRTU said the works will commence on 2 January 2012. "Transport Malta assured the GRTU that it will be doing its utmost to minimise the inconvenience but due to the nature of works (deep trenches) and for safety reasons access will be denied during certain times when they will be proceeding with works," the GRTU said.

Are you crazy ? we already have triq Garibaldi closed with the resulting traffic jams. If we close this at the same time, how the hell is anyone from the Sliema/Pembroke and other large areas supposed to arrive at the airport ?

What do they mean with certain times ?? rush hours ? it's already mayhem now. Why can't Transport Malta wait until Triq Garibaldi is ready before they commence this project ? or are we in election mode and we need to get this project ready by election date ? and to hell with creating more inconvenience to commuters ?
