Eddie Fenech Adami gets pacemaker implanted
Former President Eddie Fenech Adami's condition is said to be stable after being hospitalised yesterday for a suspected heart attack.
Former President and Prime Minister Eddie Fenech Adami underwent an intervention during which a pacemaker was embedded. "He is recovering well," a department of information statement said today, quoting Mater Dei Hospital.
According to sources, Fenech Adami, 77 is expected to leave hospital later today.
The former Head of State fell ill yesterday while having lunch at a Gzira restaurant with his son Beppe, former President Ugo Mifsud Bonnici, former PN President Victor Scerri and Minister Austin Gatt.
He was taken with a private car to the Gzira Health Centre and later taken by ambulance to Mater Dei Hospital where he was submitted to a series of tests.
It was initially supected that Fenech Adami, 77 suffered a slight heart attack.
His condition this morning was said to be stable and is expected to remain in hospital for a few days.
Last August, his wife Mary passed away after suffering a heart attack.
