Dar tal-Providenza collects over €800,000 marking another charity record

€831,212 were collected in a 15-hour marathon in aid of the Dar tal-Providenza in Siggiewi. The sum collected is the highest in the 16 years since its been held.

The marathon was held yesterday, on New Year's Day in Siggiewi. As per tradition, the marathon was kicked off at 9am with Holy Mass and went on until after midnight.

Grateful for the sum, home Director Fr Martin Micallef thanked the Maltese and Gozitans for their generous help. The money, he said, will help the home give a better life to its residents.

Founded in 1965 by Dun Mikiel Azzopardi, the home seeks to help individuals with mental and physical disabilities and provides respite services to others.
