Sliema stabbing – men bled to death in hand-to-hand assault
Multiple neck wounds in brief assault that left both men dead.
The police has said that both Duncan Zammit and Nicholas Gera bled to death after receiving multiple stab wounds, a brief statement on the autopsy released this afternoon said.
Police sources told MaltaToday Zammit had 10 stab wounds while Gera had 5. The Times reports that "between stab wounds, superficial cuts and bruises" Zammit had more than 20 while Gera had more than 10.
The violent assault appears to have taken place with both men facing each other, stabbing each other in the neck.
It is unclear what Gera was doing inside the Zammits' apartment. Relatives of the Gera family told MaltaToday police ruled out a break-in.
Other sources closer to the Zammits say both Duncan Zammit and his wife had been asleep in bed when the incident happened.
