Labour accuses PN of manipulating PBS
The Labour Party accused PBS of becoming “an integral part of the manipulative and deceiving machine of the Nationalist Party”.
The Labour Party hit out at the Nationalist Party for "using PBS to try and hide the situation which GonziPN has found itself in".
Labour's spokesman for the media Gino Cauchi accused PBS of becoming "an integral part of the PN's manipulative and deceiving machine".
Referring to yesterday's news aired on the national TV station, Cauchi said that PBS failed to report the current political crisis: "While all media reported the current political crisis and calls for the country to go to the polls from various stakeholders, PBS's management ignored it all."
"PBS failed to report on such a serious and delicate situation. However, yesterday's news bulletin featured a number of features with the aim to try and show that government's structures were working," Cauchi said.
PBS's 8pm news featured reports on the Malta International Airport, Archbishop Paul Cremona's five years anniversary as archbishop, the Restorative Justice Act, government's rent scheme, Fitch's grading of Malta, Spain's unemployment increase, the Eurovision and a feature on the Good Causes Fund.
Cauchi added that PBS has the duty to inform the public about everything which goes on in the country, "and not stick to what benefits GonziPN".
