Brothers charged with drug trafficking, money laundering
Two brothers were remanded in custody this morning after being charged with drug trafficking and money laundering.
Frederick Delia, 32 and his brother Roderick, 29, were arrested on Tuesday after lengthy investigations that involved a number of plain clothes police officers who kept the Delia’s under round-the-clock surveillance.
Both were charged with trafficking in heroin, possession of cocaine in quantities which don’t justify personal use, and money laundering.
Senior police officials explained that officers could not easily raid the house because there were iron bars across all apertures and a pit bull was kept near the front door.
After Frederick Delia's wife was arrested as she emerged from the fortified home, somebody seemingly alerted the brothers, who were away, and they apparently entered the house from a back door. After a while they opened the door for the police and teased them to come in.
No drugs were found by the police when the house was subsequently raided, but investigators claim that the Delia brothers burnt what they had in the house before they opened the doorfor the police.
