Suspended jail term, general interdiction for TM clerk who took Lm2 'tip'

Six-month prison sentence suspended for 18 for clerk who accepted Lm2 (4.66) “tip” to process documents before others

The court established that the accused had on two or three ocasions received the tip from a Stephen Mallia, but there was no evidence that the accused ever asked for money, but the money was handed to him.

According to the court, although the amounts were small, this was still considered as being a bribe rather than a compliment. The accused had accepted money when he was not due any money for his services, beyond what he was lawfully paid.
