[WATCH] Gonzi submits nomination for PN leadership contest

Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi this morning submitted his nomination for the PN leadership contest he opened, to the party's secretary-general Paul Borg Olivier.
Gonzi announced the contest on 28 January during an extraordinary general conference of the PN's general council, following backbencher Franco Debono's abstention on a no-confidence motion against the government presented by the Opposition.
Debono has repeatedly voiced his criticism over Gonzi's leadership, leading Gonzi to address the issue within the PN's internal structure.
Various trade unions and the Labour Party have since been calling for early general elections, something which the Prime Minister has refused.
Gonzi has repeatedly insisted that the country could not afford to go to the elections because of the looming economic crisis within the eurozone. Only this week, Moody's Investment Services downgraded Malta's A2 rating to A3.
Nominations for the PN leadership close at noon.

There were so many contestants that some did not even make it to the door before noon and thus could not cast their nomination.
What a farse!!! And people used to believe that Dr Gonzi really meant business when he became party leader and PM. Shame on him!!
