Italian police intercept ‘dog trafficking’ ring from Malta

Two Maltese nationals have reportedly been arrested in Catania in connection to an investigation into trafficking dogs from Malta.

Catania's police said that the two men were arrested after they were intercepted driving a car with 10 chihuaha breed dogs, which were not declared and in breach of European animal export regulations.

According to the police, the dogs were being sold on the black market.

A magistrate has meanwhile ruled that the dogs be kept in the Catania council kennels.
