Remanded in custody after punching wife
A man was remanded in custody at the Corradino Prisons after he was charged with punching his wife outside the law courts.
Stephen Spiteri, 39 of Valletta was arrested shortly after midday yesterday when he assaulted his wife and violently punched her in the face as she exited the court building after attending a sitting at the family court.
Spiteri and his wife are currently separating and they had appeared before a judge over his access to see his children.
Besides being charged with punching his wife, he was also charged with having threatened her lawyer and relapsing.
Magistrate Neville Camilleri denied a request for bail and ordered that Spiteri be remanded in custody.
