Valletta woman jailed for drug trafficking

A court has jailed a woman for two years this afternoon, after she submitted a guilty plea to a series of charges connected to drug trafficking.

Judith Bakoush, 21 from Valletta was arrested during a sting by the Valletta Police who acted on a tip-off.

She was found to be trafficking cocaine, besides also being within 100 metres from a school.

Bakoush was further charged of relapsing and in breach of three suspended sentences and a probation order.

She was sentenced to the minimum at law following an early admission of guilt.

Inspectors Jesmond Borg from teh Police Drug Squad and Pierre Micallef Grimaud from the Valletta District Police prosecuted.

Lawyers Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri appeared for Bakoush.

Bakoush was immediately escorted from the law courts to Corradino Prisons to start her jail term.
