For the third consecutive week, Leader of the House Carm Mifsud Bonnici has failed to set the date for when the motion presented by the Opposition on justice and home affairs is to be discussed in parliament.

Mifsud Bonnici argued that he wasn't in a position to set a date for the debate as a number of government MPs would be away in the coming weeks. He added that once he'll have the full programme of the ministers and MPs he'd come forward with a date.

Opposition whip Joe Mizzi said that while Mifsud Bonnici had previously said he couldn't indicate a date, former Leader of the House Tonio Borg had agreed the motion would be placed at the top of the agenda and would have been discussed by end of January.

Opposition's spokesman Anglu Farrugia added that Mifsud Bonnici had assured that all pending motions would be discussed: "We are insisting that this motion is discussed this week."

But Mifsud Bonnici insisted that the House's agenda will focus on the Collective Actions Bill and the resolution over Croatia's accession to the EU. "This is the agenda. Later on I'll indicate a date for the justice motion. I want all MPs to be present," he said, adding that primarily Finance Minister Tonio Fenech will be away a number of times due to meetings related to the eurozone crisis.

The Opposition argued that it was useless meeting during the House Business if the government's side was set to starting discussing one bill and then turning on to another, in a bid to delay time.

Mifsud Bonnici all the way reiterated that he would give a date when he'll be in a position to do so.

When Speaker Michael Frendo urged both sides to reach an agreement, Mifsud Bonnici said: "I will not go for a vote when I have ministers who will be away. When I'll have indications of a date I will announce it immediately."

He went on to say that the agenda might change again due to the discussion on the Bill to amend the Constitution to include the new fiscal rule.

The House Business Committee was adjourned to Monday at 6:30pm. The Opposition did not agree with the agenda.

Appell lil l-oppozizjoni...Jekk min naha tal gvern ma tridx li tiddiskuti mozzjonijiet li qeghedha taghmel l-oppozizjoni fil parlament, ghal fejn qeghedin tmorru?

Tiftakru meta l-predecessuri ta' gonzipn u tal-klikka tal-hazen li tmexxih kienu jitghajjru, jikkundannaw u jzebilhu lill-Gvern Socjalista (u sewwa kienu jaghmlu) ghax kien jaghmel li jrid bil-QRATI biex ikun cert li jirbah dejjem hu? Imma llum dawn il-pampaluni kollha siekta u tilfu lehenhom ghalkemm gonzipn u l-klikka tieghu qed jaghmlu li jridu u jkissru u jfarrku d-dinjita tal-PARLAMENT biex ikunu certi li jirbhu dejjem huma. Imma li therri lil QRATI minn taht hu hazin waqt li therri lil PARLAMENT minn taht, dak ma jimpurtax. L-ipokrizija ta' gonzipn u tal-forzi tal-hazen li hu mdawwar bihom hi xi haga li ma titwemminx !!!
