The Public Accounts Committee has forwarded requests made by Labour MPs Gino Cauchi and Owen Bonnici to the Auditor General to investigate two separate issues.

Cauchi is asking the National Audit Office to investigate alleged claims of lack of transparency and accountability by national broadcaster PBS.

Cauchi said that following replies to parliamentary questions,  it transpired there was a discrepancy of €1.6 million between the approved expenditure estimate for 2010's public service obligation.

The public service obligation stood at €1,164,00 when the actual expenditure stands at €2,720,999, Cauchi said.

Meanwhile, Bonnici has also asked the office of the Auditor General to look into the concession of Students' House and determine whether any rules were breached when the University Students' Council leased part of the premises of Students' House for commercial purposes.

Bonnici added that the Students' Council was receiving the money from the lease.
