Four weeks ago, Dave Kaye was appointed as Arriva's Managing Director for an interim six month period. He was appointed to oversee the operations and development of the 285-bus business, part of a ten-year contract which went into operation in July 2011.

In an interview with MaltaToday, Kaye says that he has come to Malta to "increase the passenger numbers, get the buses running on time, communicate and market the service better and deliver day in, day out".

Kaye says that Arriva are aware of the reputation the company gained in the last eight months so they need to work on people's perceptions. "The only way we can do that is to keep delivering something that people want to use. I cannot force people onto buses but I can deliver a service which makes people want to use the service."

Can anyone tell me why we have to wait on the Bus by the Granaries in Floriana so drivers can change and have their break ? Also would it not make more sense if those buses that do not need to change driver for break to pass from Floriana's main road, (St Anne street) so passengers can alight quicker in Valletta ?

Aren't we in the EU which prohibits monopolies? Arriva, you shall never see me on your buses if you do not allow competition. I hope that a new PL Government will issue licenses to anyone wanting to operate a public transport service and stop all subsidies to Arrive.

Dave Kaye you must be the only one who is optimistic.

Things have improved and let's hope, for everyones sake, that they improve even further. It is worrying however that people seem to still perceive that the air con on these buses is not always used. If this perception persists over summer, then Arriva has a challenge as without real efficient airconditioning these buses will prove to be unbearable smelly hot boxes.

At our expense....why not give back free parking at the Park & Ride and concentrate more at getting us to our destinations on time than making hefty tariffs on parking to FORCE us commmuters to use your service!

Dear Mr Kaye, are you optimistic about your future? Our future with Arriva is completely BLURED. Do you know when I will be optimistic, when we have decent Public Transport like they have in Sweeden. Timely arrivals and departures, well educated and well mannered drivers. This week one of your supervisors after waiting for 45 minutes at the Valletta Terminus and I went to complain to him about it. His answer was "If you don't like it you can walk it home" The so called garbage we had before was more efficient. I never left home to go to work more than 10 minutes before just to go to Valletta. Now I have to waste about 90 minutes just to go to Valletta from Savoy (Sliema).
