32 minors became mothers in 2011
South Harbour area registers majority of babies born to 16-year-old girls and younger
Health Minister Joe Cassar said in parliament that 32 babies were born to mothers who were aged 16 years and younger.
According to the information tabled, the highest rate was registered in the South Harbour area, with 14 cases, followed by six in the North Harbour Area.
A separate analysis carried out by MaltaToday showed how the Grand Harbour area has the highest rate of unmarried parents. The statistics also showed that St Paul's Bay is the only northern locality among the 10 localities with the highest number of unmarried parents.
