Double trouble for former consul

The former consul for San Marino, Luigi Lombardo ends up on Striscia la Notizia for his involvement in a scandal related to false certificates.

Malta's former consul for San Marino, Luigi Lombardo is currently embroiled in a scandal involving false certificates. This week he appeared on Italian satirical television programme, Striscia la Notizia for nominating Luciano Ridolfi for a Nobel Prize on behalf of a university which does not exist.

This is not the first time that Lombardo has found himself in hot water. In 2007, he was sacked and removed from consul to San Marino by the Maltese government after being arrested and condemned for usury.
