Trafficker jailed 13 years, fined €30,000
A Libyan national has been jailed for 13 years and fined €30,000 after pleading guilty to importing drugs.
Abdurahman Abushiba admitted to importning more than a kilogramme of heroine in his luggage when arriving in Malta last year.
Abushiba had admitted to have imported the drugs to Malta by conspiring with a certain 'Emad' who had promised him 100 grammes of the drug in payment for carrying it in his luggage.

The law must be amended so that foreign criminals kept in prison must pay for their stay, either themselves or their governments make good for their stay.

The only drawback is that €30k will not even cover the cost of his incarceration. The taxpayer loses yet again.
