Polidano Brothers Ltd explains delays in M’skala road works
Construction company says Enemalta took 22 days to issue clearance
Reacting to the complaints raised by Marsaskala residents over the delay in the completion of works in Triq il-Gandoffli, Polidano Brothers Ltd said that Enemalta had taken 22 days to give its clearance.
Posting its statement on the comments board underneath the news report, the construction company said that works had started on February 2. Through Transport Malta on March 1, it then requested clearance from Enemalta with regards to the final levels of Enemalta cables.
"Transport Malta informed Polidano Brothers Ltd that the Enemalta issue had been resolved on March 23 - 22 days after the issue had been raised by Polidano Brothers Ltd," the company's communications office said.
Works on site resumed today, five days after the company received a notification by the Authorities, and have been completed.
"Whilst appreciating the residents' frustration at the bureaucratic situation, Polidano Brothers Ltd confirms its commitment to deliver to the best of its abilities," the company said.
Yesterday, Transport Malta also said that the contractor was going to be liable for any penalties due under the contract of works as well as under LN29/10 covering road works.
The contractor has already had €1,000 deducted from his bank guarantee for initially carrying out works without a permit.
The contractor will also reimburse Transport Malta for the emergency interventions which TM had to make using on-call contractors.
