4.3 quake hits Messina, registered also in Malta

A 4.3 magnitude earthquake was registered at 01:17am in Messina Sicily, but its shock waves were registered also in Malta.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has reported a 4.3 magnitude earthquake in the area around the town of Messina in Sicily early this morning. 64 km (39 miles) NW of Messina, Sicily.

The tremor was registered at 124 km (77 miles) N of Catania, 128 km (79 miles) SW of Cosenza,
and 305 km (189 miles) N of Valletta.

The USGS established the quake at a depth of 238.9 km (148.5 miles). There were no significant injuries or damage reported.
