MaltaToday can reveal that Tonio Fenech held meetings in Doha yesterday with Qatar's minister for energy and industry Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada.

The meeting - held in the presence of Frank Galea, Malta's newly-appointed ambassador to the Gulf States - was held at the Qatar Petroleum headquarters and was also attended by senior officials of QP and Qatar Petroleum International.

Speaking in parliament hours before he departed for Doha on Tuesday, Tonio Fenech said that "government acknowledged that the important thing was to find an alternative solution to weathering this temporary spike in oil prices."

He said that government's ultimate priority was to safeguard employment, industry and businesses.

It is about time to wake up from your long sleep Hon. Fenech and try to do something about the oil prices. Well, it is too late now, we shall not vote for GonziPN this time. Their days are numbered.

That the price of oil was going up and not down as had been predicted by the EU - and repeated here in Malta- could easily have been known many months ago if one follows what international specialists in the oil sector say in reports which appear on the internet !I suggest to Tonio Fenech to start following what Kent Moore of Money Morning says about oil prices, and forget what the EU says !
