[WATCH] Police catch Swieqi hold-up suspects
Two armed men held under arrest. It is suspected the two men stormed into a grocery shop in Swieqi in broad daylight, demanding money.
Two men caught by the Police in San Pawl tat-Targa have been arrested. The two men are suspected to have been involved in a robbery in Swieqi, where two men armed with a pointed weapon this afternoon robbed a grocery shop. The police said the two men stole €2,250 from the shop.
The two men both aged 27, were stopped by the police and their car, a white Suzuki, was brought to halt by a police car in J. Howard Street, San Pawl tat-Targa. For a short while, the two men were held on site sitting on a wall, handcuffed and under the watchful eye of police officers, before they were taken away in a police car.
The incident happened at around 4pm at the Greens Supermarket in Triq l-Ibragg. MaltaToday is informed that there were a number of clients at the time of the incident. No one was injured.
This is the third robbery in four days. On Saturday, a stationery shop in B'kara was robbed when a female client found herself at knifepoint while the thief demanded cash from the shop owner.
The second robbery took place on Saturday night, when two men robbed a shop in Hamrun. At the time of the robbery there were two workers, the shop owner, and a family of three.
