Labour publishes photos of patients at Mater Dei without pillows
The Labour Party insists that government should address the sufferings of the patients at the hospital, rather than embark on a public relations campaign.
The Labour Party has published photos of patients at Mater Dei Hospital, who instead of a pillow were given sheets and pyjamas to be used as pillows.
"In a bid to try and hide what's really going on at the hospital, government is ignoring the sufferings of the patients instead of investigating these incidents," the PL's spokesperson for health, Marie Louise Coleiro Preca said in a statement.
In a reaction to an original statement issued by Coleiro Preca on the lack of pillows at Mater Dei, the Health Ministry had invited the media to visit a storeroom, filled with new pillows.
Coleiro Preca said that government felt "more comfortable" publishing photos of a room full of packed pillows, a room which is found at St Luke's Hospital.
"If the Health Ministry has so many pillows, why did patients remain without one?" Coleiro Preca said, adding that government should also say when the pillows were placed in the storage room.
Coleiro Preca added that if Health Minister Joe Cassar wanted to be taken seriously by the public, he should guarantee that all halls at Mater Dei Hospital have enough pillows for the patients.
