Nature Trust ‘threatened’ by government
Nature Trust executive president Vince Attard insists that government’s delay in paying it its due amounts is threatening the NGO’s existence.
In an interview with Sunday newspaper Illum, the executive president of Nature Trust Vince Attard says government has not yet paid the environment NGO around €50,000 which have been due since 2009.
Attard tells Illum that the NGO has already let off one worker and had to forfeit a number of new projects. He said that the NGO - who this year marks its 50th anniversary - is facing a lot of financial problems to keep its work going.
Attard also says that the environment cannot be used as a political football. "The lesson here is to never let politicians fail on upholding their promises of commitment on safeguarding the environment," Attard said.
