Richard Cachia Caruana | A profile of the man everybody loves to hate
In a four-page feature, MaltaToday presents a profile of Malta’s permanent representative to the EU Richard Cachia Caruana.
As the redoubtable Richard Cachia Caruana is facing a motion of censure in parliament, MaltaToday on Sunday presents a profile of the man who is somewhat a legendary political figure.
The Opposition has filed a motion calling for Cachia Caruana's resignation following his 'behind-the-scenes' role in bringing Malta into Nato's Partnership for Peace in 2008 and bypassing the parliamentary procedure for this decision.
The first to give his evidence before the Parliamentary European and Foreign Affairs committee was Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi. Last Wednesday, Gonzi insisted that he couldn't accept "accusations of treason".
Gonzi is expected to appear again before the committee next Monday.
