PN calls on supporters to send sympathy card to Mifsud Bonnici
The Nationalist Party initiates campaign urging online users to send a sympathy card to ousted minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici.
The Nationalist Party has launched a campaign in support of former home affairs minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici who tendered his resignation on Wednesday following the Parliamentary vote which government lost.
The party is urging supporters to send an e-card through its mychoice.pn website where the PN has opened up its social media front. The PN's secretary-general Paul Borg Olivier is sending thousands of emails urging people to send the card to the beleaguered former minister.
The message on mychoice.pn says " Partit Nazzjonalista is launching a campaign to support Carm Mifsud Bonnici. Show your solidarity with Carm by sending him a note below. Your note will be displayed publicly together with all other messages below."
The initiative has attracted hundreds of subscribers who sent their notes which all express gratitude to Mifsud Bonnici and wish him luck for the future.
A number of subscribers also encourage the former minister to continue offering his services to the country.
Mifsud Bonnici resigned after the Opposition motion calling for his resignation was approved on Wednesday with Nationalist MP Franco Debono breaking ranks and voting with the Opposition.
The prime minister Lawrence Gonzi accepted the resignation and thanked Mifsud Bonnici for his loyalty, service and dedication to the people and the government.
Gonzi assumed the responsibility for home affairs and local government while Foreign Minister Tonio Borg replaced the outgoing minister as Leader of the House.
